A numbered ring for the grind setting

This Eureka Mignon grind setting dial puts a numbered ring on top of the grinder, around the hopper. The ring has 100 marks per turn, with figures from 0 to 90 and a tick at every step, so you can read a grind setting, note it and go back to it.

A knob drives the ring through gear teeth at a ratio of 25:85. One full turn of the knob moves the ring 29.4 marks, so each step is small.

The bezel carries a fixed index line and covers the gear teeth. It sits flush with the grinder's lid.

How it fits

The dial mounts on the grinder's original boss and knob shaft and is held by the machine's own screw. It is designed to fit as it comes, with no modification to the grinder. It has four parts: a base plate, the ring, the bezel and the knob.

Materials and care

The dial is 3D printed in matte black PLA, and like any 3D printed part it shows fine layer lines on its surface. The figures and marks are white PLA inlaid in the ring, with no paint and no stickers.

PLA softens with heat, so wash it by hand in lukewarm water with mild dish soap and keep it out of the dishwasher.
