A 48 mm burr with 100 steps

The IKAPE electric coffee grinder carries a 48 mm CNC-machined conical burr in SUS420 stainless steel; IKAPE also describes a six-star steel grinding core. The knob has 100 steps in 10 major increments, each step 0.1 mm. Turn it clockwise for finer grounds and counter-clockwise for coarser, and read the setting on the dial.

From Turkish to cold brew

IKAPE states that the range covers everything from ultra-fine espresso to coarse cold brew, and the dial names Turkish, espresso and pour-over among its settings. The motor turns the burr at 200 rpm.

Handling the grounds

Four-paddle scraper: it carries an oxidized coating, and IKAPE states that it reduces the residue left in the chamber.
Magnetic grounds compartment: IKAPE states that it drops the coffee smoothly and precisely.
Raised grounds bin: IKAPE states that it cuts down on grounds thrown clear of the cup.
Silicone base: non-slip, so the grinder stays put on the bench.

How to use it

Put the beans in the 30 g hopper and close it.
Set the knob, counting steps from your last known number.
Start the grinder and let it run until the chamber is clear.
Tap the powder cup before you lift it out.
Turn the hopper counter-clockwise to remove it for cleaning.

Materials and care

IKAPE describes the housing as aerospace-grade aluminium alloy, CNC-machined in one piece with a black finish, and the burrs as SUS420 stainless steel. The bean hopper, the grinding chamber and the powder cup all come off for cleaning: turn the hopper counter-clockwise to remove it, then clean the parts with a brush. IKAPE states that no water is needed.
