IKAPE Espresso Paper Filters, 200 pcs (51 / 53.5 / 58.5 mm)

Single-use paper discs of virgin Japanese pulp; IKAPE states the paper has no chemicals. A disc on the coffee spreads the water over the puck and keeps grounds off the shower screen. 200 pieces per pack, as an espresso paper filter 58 mm baskets take (58.5 mm), or in 51 or 53.5 mm.

A clean group head, one disc at a time

These are single-use paper filters for espresso, sold 200 to a pack in 51, 53.5 and 58.5 mm. For an espresso paper filter 58 mm baskets take, choose 58.5 mm. IKAPE states that a disc spreads the water from the group head evenly over the coffee, helps the puck form and does not affect the water pressure.

IKAPE also states that the paper reduces channeling, stops grounds from sticking to the machine and keeps the group head clean. Each disc is thrown away with the puck, so there is nothing to rinse. At two shots a day, a pack of 200 lasts about three months.

Choose the right size

  • De'Longhi Dedica and other compact 51 mm machines.51 mm
  • Sage / Breville machines with 54 mm baskets, including Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch and Bambino Plus.53.5 mm
  • standard 58 mm baskets on E61 group machines, Gaggia Classic, Rancilio Silvia, Lelit, ECM, Profitec and La Marzocco.58.5 mm

Conical baskets are the exception. If your 58 mm basket tapers towards the bottom, IKAPE recommends the 53.5 mm disc for the bottom of the basket and the 58.5 mm disc on top of the coffee.

How to use it

  1. Grind, distribute and tamp as usual.
  2. Lay one disc flat on the tamped bed and press it down lightly so it stays put.
  3. Lock the portafilter in and start the shot.
  4. Knock the puck and the paper out together into the knock box and wipe the basket.

Materials and care

IKAPE describes the discs as handmade from natural, virgin Japanese pulp, calls the pulp food grade and states that the paper has no chemicals. Use one disc per shot and throw it away with the puck. Keep the pack closed and dry, because damp paper tears when you press it onto the bed.
