A hand grinder with a numbered dial
The IKAPE manual grinder is a hand grinder with a conical burr of food-grade 420 stainless steel and a numbered click dial. IKAPE states that the dial covers French press, Chemex, drip, cold brew and espresso. The dial clicks into set positions and carries numbers, so a setting can be noted and repeated.
A conical burr in food-grade 420 stainless steel
The tapered burr is made of food-grade 420 stainless steel, in IKAPE's description. IKAPE also states that the grinder takes its high-precision five-sided, six-sided and seven-sided conical burrs, each with its own matching inner and outer cutter.
Thirty grams in the chamber
The container holds 30 g of coffee, which IKAPE puts at three to four cups in one grind. The parts join magnetically, and IKAPE states that the hold is strong enough not to come apart easily; the bean bin comes off with one twist. IKAPE describes the grinder as light and suited to the office, the home and travel.
How to use it
- Twist the bean bin off and add up to 30 g of beans.
- Set the dial to your number, counting clicks from closed.
- Grind with a steady, even turn of the handle.
- Tap the chamber before removing it, so the fines settle.
- Brush the burr out dry after the last grind of the day.
Materials and care
The burr is food-grade 420 stainless steel and the body is an aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, in IKAPE's description. Brush the burr and both chambers out dry, because water and coffee oil together can seize a thread and dull a burr. Do not put any part in the dishwasher, and dry everything fully before reassembly.
