Flow Control Discs for Niche Zero
A set of four flow control discs for the Niche Zero, laser cut from 3 mm black acrylic. Each disc goes in place of the stock flow disc, and the notch in its edge sets how fast the beans enter the burrs. Disc 1 is the fastest, disc 4 the slowest; a slower feed gives a more even grind.

Four feed speeds for the Niche Zero
This Niche Zero flow control disc set holds four discs that go in place of the grinder's stock flow disc. The opening in the edge of the disc, a notch, sets how fast the beans reach the burrs. A slower feed gives a more even grind.
The four discs differ only in the notch. All four measure Ø40.4 × 3 mm, with a Ø6.2 mm centre hole.
From fast to slow
Disc 1 is the fastest and disc 4 the slowest. The width of the notch changes the flow most, its depth less. Disc 2 has only a little less open area than disc 1, yet it is much slower, because its notch is narrower. Estimated feed times for 15 g of beans:
- Disc 1: notch 10 × 10 mm, about 26 s
- Disc 2: notch 9 × 10 mm, about 50 s
- Disc 3: notch 9 × 9.5 mm, about 1 min 10 s
- Disc 4: notch 9 × 9 mm, about 2 min 20 s
All four times are estimates. They vary with the size of the beans and the roast.
How to use it
- Open the lid of the grinder.
- Undo the original bolt that holds the stock disc on the burr hub, and take the stock disc out.
- Place the disc you chose on the burr hub, numbered side up.
- Refit the original bolt. Nothing else on the grinder changes.
- Grind as usual. The disc turns with the burr, and the beans pass through the notch.
These steps are for information only. We give no installation support and no guarantee for the fitting.
Materials and care
The discs are laser cut from 3 mm opaque black acrylic, with a glossy face and a hazy black cut edge. The number (1 to 4) and the Black Tamp logo are lightly laser engraved and show as a grey, frosted mark. Wipe the discs with a dry cloth.
