A paper filter that sits flat in the UFO Dripper

This UFO Dripper negotiator, also called a disputer or smoosher, is sized for the UFO Dripper (Ø101.3 mm across, 59.6 mm tall). You set it in the paper filter while you rinse it, and it presses the filter against the walls of the dripper, so the filter sits flat and folds evenly.

It is one piece: a cone with curved slots and a knob in the centre.

A filter that sits flush against the walls leaves less room for water to run past the coffee bed, so less of it bypasses the coffee.

How to use it

Put a paper filter in the dripper, set the negotiator inside and hold it by the knob. Pour the rinse water, lift the negotiator out and add the coffee. Rinse with lukewarm water, not hot: hot water can warp PLA.

Materials and care

The negotiator is 3D printed in food-safe PLA with a matte black finish, and like any 3D printed part it shows fine layer lines on its surface. PLA softens with heat, so wash it by hand in lukewarm water with mild dish soap and keep it out of the dishwasher.
