A glass for a double shot

IKAPE's espresso glass cups are hand-made from high borosilicate glass. Each one holds 270 ml, which IKAPE describes as large enough for a double shot of espresso. The glass is sold singly, in one of six finishes.

Size

The glass stands 8 cm tall and measures 7.3 cm across the mouth. Check the height against your machine: an 8 cm glass does not fit under every group head or portafilter spout, so measure the gap first if your machine is a compact one.

Borosilicate glass

IKAPE makes the glass from high borosilicate and names two reasons for it: high glass strength and a longer lifespan. Each glass is made by hand, so small differences in shape and wall between two glasses are normal.

Six finishes

The glass comes in transparent, black, orange and sky blue, and in two rainbow versions. Rainbow (light) is clear glass with an iridescent sheen. Rainbow (dark) carries bright multicoloured stripes and costs more than the other five. In IKAPE's photo, the black glass is a dark, smoky grey tint.

How to use it

Measure the space under your group head or spout before the first shot; the glass is 8 cm tall.
Warm the glass with hot water and empty it, so a small drink stays hot for longer.
Pull the shot straight into the glass.

Materials and care

The glass is high borosilicate. IKAPE states that it is safe in the microwave and in the dishwasher. Rinse it soon after use so coffee oil does not dry on the inside, and avoid abrasive pads, which dull the surface over time.
