1. Sizes and fit
Which basket size do I need?
Espresso tools come in three sizes in this shop: 51 mm, 53.3 / 54 mm and 58 mm. The size is the inside diameter of your filter basket at the top edge, not the outside of the portafilter. The size guide shows how to measure it in half a minute. To see the size of every tool for your machine in one place, use the compatibility chart.
How do I measure my portafilter?
Take the basket out of the portafilter, turn it upside down on the bench and measure across the open top, from the inside of one wall to the inside of the opposite wall. Use a ruler or a caliper and read the millimetres. If you land between two numbers, write to us with the machine model instead of guessing.
What is the difference between 53.3 mm and 54 mm?
They are the same class of machine. Sage and Breville call their basket 54 mm, and IKAPE machines the tool to 53.3 mm so it fits the 54 mm Sage and Breville basket. We sell both under one size, 53.3 / 54 mm, so you do not have to work out which number your machine uses.
Why do you list 58.35 mm when my machine is 58 mm?
IKAPE lists these tools as 58.35 mm or 58.5 mm depending on the model; all of them are made for standard 58 mm baskets. If your machine takes a 58 mm basket, choose 58 mm.
I have a Sage or Breville machine. Which size?
The Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch and Bambino Plus take the 53.3 / 54 mm size. A few Sage and Breville models use a 58 mm basket instead, so if your portafilter looks like the larger commercial type, measure it before you order.
I have a De’Longhi. Which size?
The Dedica range, including the EC680, EC685 and EC885, and the La Specialista EC9XXX.M range take 51 mm. The two-eared 51 mm models IKAPE names are the ECP3420, EC155, BCO430, EC260 and EC310. De’Longhi uses portafilters with two ears and with three ears, so tell us which one you have if a product page asks.
What about Gaggia Classic, Rancilio Silvia, Lelit, ECM, Profitec and E61 machines?
All of them take 58 mm. This is the most common size for home machines with a commercial style group, so it is also where our largest choice of tools sits. The compatibility chart shows the size of each tool for these machines and links to the tools that fit.
My machine is not on your list. What do I do?
First look in the compatibility chart, which covers more machines than this list. Write to us at [email protected] or use the contact form with the machine brand and the full model number. We check the basket diameter and answer within 1 business day, before you spend anything.
2. Shipping
What does shipping cost?
It depends on the destination country: from $5.00 per order to the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria and Poland, from $8.00 to $25.00 to the other countries listed on the shipping and delivery page, and from $22.00 to every other country. Some items ship at their own rate because of their size or weight. The checkout shows the exact cost in the currency you shop in, before you pay. There is no minimum order value.
How long does delivery take?
The order is picked and packed in 2 days. Delivery then takes about 7 days to the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria and Poland, about 10 to 18 days to the other countries listed on the shipping and delivery page and about 30 days to Brazil and Mexico; for every other country the delivery time varies. It is an estimate of how the route normally runs, not a promised date.
Which countries do you ship to?
To every country. The 27 member states of the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada and a number of other countries have their own shipping cost and delivery time, listed on the shipping and delivery page; every other country is shipped at $22.00. In the United States we cannot deliver to Alaska, Hawaii, the US territories or military addresses. For Brazil and Mexico the checkout asks for the recipient’s tax ID (CPF or CNPJ, RFC).
Will I have to pay customs or VAT when the parcel arrives?
Parcels to the EU, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada are sent with the import taxes prepaid. Prices for the EU include VAT, and prices for the United Kingdom include UK VAT at 20%, for an order with goods worth up to £135 excluding VAT. In rare cases the carrier or the customs authority of the destination country may still charge a local fee or tax; we do not control this and cannot rule it out. To all other countries, the import taxes are prepaid for most destinations, but duties, taxes or clearance fees set by the destination country may apply and are payable by you; we cannot tell you the amount in advance. If you receive a request for payment you did not expect, take a photo of the notice and send it to [email protected], and we will look into it.
How do I follow my parcel?
You get a dispatch e-mail with the tracking number, and you can look it up yourself on the tracking page. The first scan can take a day to appear, which is normal.
3. Payment
Which payment methods can I use?
The methods shown at checkout: Stripe. Which ones appear can depend on the country you are ordering from, because not every method is available everywhere in the EU. The list in the checkout is always the current one.
Do prices include VAT?
For the EU and the United Kingdom, yes: prices include VAT, UK VAT at 20% for the United Kingdom, and the only thing added at checkout is the shipping. For all other countries, how import taxes are handled is explained in the answer above.
When is my card charged?
When you place the order, unless the payment method you chose works on its own schedule. If an item turns out to be unavailable we tell you without delay and refund what you paid for it.
Do I get an invoice?
Yes, the order confirmation e-mail carries the invoice with the VAT stated. If you order as a business and need your VAT number on it, send it to us with the order number and we reissue the document.
4. Returns
Can I send something back if I change my mind?
Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to withdraw from the contract without giving a reason. Tell us at [email protected], and the four practical steps are on the returns page.
Who pays the return shipping?
You do if you changed your mind. We do if the item is defective, damaged in transit or not what you ordered, and in that case write to us before you ship anything so we can arrange the label. Outside the EU and the United Kingdom, a change-of-mind return also carries a 5% restocking fee.
How long does a refund take?
We refund within 14 days of your withdrawal notice, to the payment method you used, with no fee. We may wait until the goods are back or until you show proof that you sent them, whichever comes first, and then your bank decides how quickly the money lands.
Something arrived damaged. What should I do?
Ask the carrier to record the damage in a damage report, at delivery if you can, and photograph the box and the item before you unpack any further. Send the report and the photos with your order number to [email protected]. Once the report confirms the damage, we exchange the item free of charge and pay the shipping both ways. The steps are on the returns page.
5. Products
Are the IKAPE products genuine?
Yes. The IKAPE products in this shop are made by IKAPE; the Black Tamp tools are our own, and the product page names the maker. For delivery within the EU the parcel is sent with the import taxes prepaid.
What guarantee do I get?
If an item is faulty or does not match its description, you have the rights your local consumer law gives you. For customers in the EU and the United Kingdom this is the statutory guarantee, which lasts at least two years from delivery. Write to us with the order number and a photo, and we repair or replace the item or refund it, as the law provides. We pay the return shipping.
Do you sell coffee or espresso machines?
We sell espresso tools: tampers, distributors, WDT tools, baskets, puck screens, portafilters, dosing funnels and cups, knock boxes, stands, scales, pitchers, grinders, brewing gear and portable makers. We do not sell coffee beans, and the only machines in the catalogue are the portable and manual makers.
Can I buy the tools as a set?
Yes, there are sets that combine the pieces you would otherwise buy one by one, in the sets and bundles category. Check the basket size on the set the same way you would on a single tool, because the set carries one size for all the pieces in it.
