A small knock box for beside the machine
The IKAPE V1 is a small knock box for the spent pucks from your espresso machine. IKAPE gives its size as 4.4 × 4.5 × 5.3 in, about 11.2 × 11.4 × 13.5 cm, and made it compact so it does not take up much room on a coffee bar. It comes in black or pink.
Up to 800 g of grounds
IKAPE states that the box holds up to 800 g of spent coffee and that this covers a day's use. Empty it at the end of each day and rinse it out, so that old grounds do not sit in the box overnight.
A rubber base that stays put
The bottom of the box is rubber with an anti-slip design. IKAPE states that the rubber holds the box firmly on the table and stops it moving, so it stays in place when you knock the portafilter against the bar after each shot.
How to use it
- Set the box on a flat, dry surface so the rubber base sits flush.
- Hold the portafilter by the handle and strike the bar once, firmly.
- If the puck stays in the basket, knock once more.
- Empty the box daily and rinse it out.
- Dry the inside before the next session, so grounds do not cake.
Materials and care
IKAPE states that the body is 304 stainless steel with a protective coat of paint, and that the aluminium knock bar has a special coating around it. IKAPE also states that the box absorbs most of the impact from knocking.
Wash the box by hand and dry it straight away, including the rubber base, before you stand it back on the bench. Do not use abrasive pads, which can scratch the paint.
