A wooden box for your paper filters
This IKAPE espresso paper filter holder is a small wooden box with a lid, sold with 200 paper filters in the size you choose. IKAPE states that the U-shaped notch in the box makes the filters easy to reach and lets you see how many are left.
IKAPE describes the filters as handmade and food grade, made from natural virgin Japanese pulp with no chemicals.
What is in the set
- 200 paper filters: single-use discs for the portafilter basket. IKAPE states that they spread the water from the brew head evenly over the coffee, help the puck form without affecting the water pressure, help against channeling and keep grounds off the brew head.
- Wooden box with lid: holds the stack of filters, with a U-shaped notch for reaching them.
IKAPE also states that the paper is thick enough to sit snugly in the basket and is less likely to tear at brewing temperature.

Check whether your 58 mm basket has straight or conical walls: for a conical basket, IKAPE advises a smaller filter under the coffee and the 58.5 mm filter on top.
How to use it
- Take one filter out of the box through the notch.
- Lay it on the tamped coffee, or in the empty basket under the coffee.
- Lock the portafilter in and start the shot.
- Knock out the puck and the paper together; use one filter per cup.
Materials and care
The filters are used once and go in the bin with the puck, so they need no cleaning. The box is wood: wipe it with a dry cloth, keep it away from the drip tray and do not wash it. Keep the lid on so the stack stays dry.
