Four places in one station
This is a wooden knock box and organizer that IKAPE calls 4-in-1: a holder for the espresso tamper, one for the coffee distributor, one for the portafilter basket, and a stainless steel knock box on the left side. IKAPE states that the knock box is freely removable, so you can lift it out to empty it.
Four non-slip feet
The station stands on four non-slip feet. IKAPE states that they stop it from slipping and from wearing the table, and that tamping on it is steadier and takes less effort. IKAPE gives the weight of the station as 2.6 kg.
Choose the right size
- 51 / 54 mm: the only version on sale. The portafilter hole is 65 mm across, which IKAPE gives for the 51 and 54 mm size. That covers De'Longhi Dedica and other compact 51 mm machines, and Sage / Breville machines with 54 mm baskets.
This station is sold in 51 / 54 mm only.
How to use it
- Set the station on a flat surface and check that the four feet sit level.
- Knock the spent puck into the steel box, never against the wood.
- Tamp over the station instead of on the bare bench.
- Empty and rinse the steel box at the end of every session.
Materials and care
IKAPE describes the body as solid wood and the knock box as stainless steel. Wipe the wood with a barely damp cloth and dry it at once. Do not soak it or put it in a dishwasher, and wash the steel box on its own.
