Heats cold water or brews from hot
The IKAPE V1 is a battery-powered portable espresso maker that heats water itself. Press and hold the button for 2 seconds and it brings cold water up to 92 °C in 210 seconds, then extracts. If you already have hot water, a double press brews straight away. It weighs 802 g.
19 bar through ground coffee or a capsule
The machine comes with two bases. One takes freshly ground coffee, 8 to 10 g of it, pressed down gently. The other takes coffee capsules. IKAPE gives the extraction pressure as 19 bar.
Battery, charging and travel
IKAPE gives the battery as 7 500 mAh; its photos add 30 Wh and a rated power of 100 W. The machine charges through a USB-C port from a car charger at 12 V or 24 V or from a USB charger, and IKAPE's photos give about 120 minutes for a full charge.
On one charge, the same photos give about 200 extractions without heating, or about 2 with heating from 50 ml of ice water. Heating takes about 4 minutes for 50 ml and about 8 minutes for 70 ml.
IKAPE's photos give the size as 248 × 75 mm and a water tank of 80 ml: 50 ml of water gives about 40 ml of coffee, 70 ml about 60 ml. IKAPE names the office, a home bar, camping, travel and business trips as places to use it.
How to use it
- Fit the base you need: the ground-coffee base or the capsule base.
- Dose 8 to 10 g of ground coffee and press it down gently, or insert a capsule.
- Fill the chamber with water, cold or already hot.
- Hold the button for 2 seconds for cold-water mode, or double-press for hot water.
- Let the extraction finish, then open and rinse the base while it is still warm.
Materials and care
IKAPE states that the machine is made of food-grade stainless steel and eco-friendly materials; its photos name food-grade plastic (ABS) and 304 stainless steel.
Rinse the base and the brew head after every shot, wipe the body with a damp cloth and never submerge the main unit. Let the parts dry before the machine goes back in a bag, and charge it fully before a longer trip.
