A ring that keeps the grounds in the basket
The IKAPE V2 magnetic dosing funnel is an aluminium alloy ring that sits on the portafilter basket and holds there with 8 to 10 magnets. It raises the wall of the basket while you dose and stir the grounds with a WDT tool. IKAPE describes it as simple to operate and effective in keeping coffee grounds from falling out.
What the magnets do
IKAPE fits 8 to 10 magnets and describes their hold on the portafilter as stable. Set the ring on the basket and it latches on. It stays in place while you dose into it and stir, and lifts straight off afterwards.
Choose the right size

How to use it
- Place the ring on the portafilter basket and let the magnets take hold.
- Dose the ground coffee into it; with the 54 mm ring on a Sage / Breville, grind first and set the ring on afterwards.
- Stir the grounds with a WDT tool until the clumps are gone.
- Lift the ring straight off, then level and tamp.
- Rinse the ring under running water and dry it.
Materials and care
The ring is aluminium alloy, which IKAPE describes as food-grade, lightweight, durable and slow to rust. IKAPE states that it can be rinsed directly with water, which keeps the inner wall free of coffee oil.
Dry it after rinsing and keep strong alkaline cleaners away from it, since they attack aluminium. Avoid long soaking.
