Break the clumps before you tamp

This is IKAPE's V2 WDT tool with stand. Its twelve ultra-fine needles stir the dose in the basket and break up the clumps a grinder leaves, before you level and tamp. IKAPE states that the V2 upgrades the shape, the number and the strength of the needles and the position of the stirrer, for more comfortable use.

Twelve needles at 0.25 mm, and you can change them

The needles are 0.25 mm in 304 stainless steel. IKAPE states that the stirrer distributes the grounds evenly in the basket, which improves the consistency of the extraction. To change a needle, unscrew the head of the handle. Six spare 0.25 mm needles are in the box.

A stand that is also a tray

The tool has its own stand, so the needles stay off the worktop between shots. IKAPE states that the base of the stand is a collection tray for the grounds that stick to the needles, and that it unscrews so you can remove it and clean it.

How to use it

Grind the dose into the basket, with a dosing funnel on the rim if you use one.
Lower the needles to the bottom of the bed and stir in small circles for a few seconds.
Lift the tool out slowly so the grounds stay in the basket.
Level and tamp, then stand the tool back in its base.

Materials and care

IKAPE names 304 stainless steel for the needles.

Rinse the needles when grounds dry between them and let them air dry. Empty the tray at the end of a session instead of leaving grounds in it. If a needle bends, unscrew the head and replace it instead of straightening it.
