A walnut station with a place for the portafilter
This is a tamping station with knock box: a solid walnut organizer for an espresso tamper, a distributor, portafilter baskets and puck screens, with a stainless steel knock box on the left side. It also has a station for the portafilter itself. IKAPE calls it a special portafilter station and says it stores your handles better.
What the station holds
- Portafilter station: a cradle for the portafilter, so it has a place between shots.
- Espresso tamper and coffee distributor, stored on the station.
- Portafilter baskets and puck screens, kept off the bench.
- Knock box: stainless steel, on the left side. IKAPE states it is freely removable, so you can clean it easily.
Handle and feet
The carry handle is new on this version. IKAPE states that it lets you lift the knock box easily without getting your hands dirty. Four non-slip feet sit under the base. IKAPE says they stop the station from slipping and from wearing the table, and that tamping on it is steadier and takes less effort.
Choose the right size
- 51 / 54 mm: the version for De'Longhi Dedica and other compact 51 mm machines, and for Sage / Breville machines with 54 mm baskets.
- the version for standard 58 mm baskets on E61 group machines, Gaggia Classic, Rancilio Silvia, Lelit, ECM and Profitec.58 mm
How to use it
- Set the station on a flat surface within reach of the group head.
- Knock the spent puck into the steel box, never against the wood.
- Park the portafilter in its station between shots.
- At the end of each session, lift the steel box out, empty it and rinse it.
Materials and care
IKAPE describes the body as pure natural solid walnut and the knock box as stainless steel. Wipe the wood with a barely damp cloth and dry it at once. Do not soak it or put it in a dishwasher, because standing water raises the grain. Wash the steel box separately and dry it before you refit it.
