Gaggia Classic storage on the machine's top
This Gaggia Classic storage caddy keeps your puck preparation tools on the machine itself. It holds a 58 mm tamper, a 58 mm distributor and a 58.5 mm puck screen, and the mini WDT tool that comes with it hangs underneath on a magnet.
It fits the Gaggia Classic Pro, Evo, E24 and RI9403. The caddy sits on the front-left corner of the top, and a notch goes over the edge of the left side panel. It needs no tools and no change to the machine.
Tamper and distributor pockets
The top face has two round pockets, each Ø59.5 mm and 3 mm deep: one for a 58 mm tamper, one for a 58 mm distributor (leveler). Each takes a base up to 58.55 mm across.
Puck screen slot
A slot in the side holds a 58.5 mm puck screen up to 2 mm thick. The floor of the slot is curved, and that curve keeps the screen from sliding out.
Mini WDT tool on a magnet
The mini WDT tool measures Ø26 × 44 mm and carries 9 needles of 0.30 mm: one in the centre and a ring of 8 around it, each 42 mm long. One Ø5 × 3 mm magnet is sealed inside the caddy and one inside the tool's head, so the tool hangs under the caddy between shots.
How to use it
- Set the caddy on the front-left corner of the machine's top, with the notch over the edge of the left side panel.
- Put the tamper in one pocket and the distributor in the other.
- Slide the puck screen into the side slot.
- Pull the mini WDT tool off the underside and stir the coffee in the basket.
- Bring the head of the tool back up to the underside of the caddy; the magnets hold it there.
Materials and care
The caddy and the mini WDT tool are 3D printed in matte black PLA, and like any 3D printed part they show fine layer lines on the surface. Clean them with a dry brush or with air. Do not put them in the dishwasher.
