IKAPE Bean Cellars are single-dose storage tubes on a stand with a hopper, sold with 6 or 12 square acrylic tubes. IKAPE states each tube holds 18 to 20 g of coffee beans, depending on the roast and the fill, or up to 50 ml. Weigh your doses once, then tip one tube into the grinder per shot.

Single doses, weighed in advance

IKAPE Bean Cellars keep coffee in single doses: 6 or 12 square acrylic tubes that stand together on one stand with a hopper. IKAPE states each tube takes 18 to 20 g of beans. Weigh a batch of doses in one sitting, and each tube is ready for the grinder when you want a shot.

IKAPE also suggests the set for storing beans at home and for taking them camping.

What a tube holds

  • 18 to 20 g of beans: IKAPE's figure, which it says varies with the roast level and with how tightly the tube is filled.
  • Up to 50 ml: the maximum volume IKAPE gives per tube. The tubes in IKAPE's photos carry the same 50 ml and 20 g marking.
  • Other contents: IKAPE also lists ground coffee, milk powder, tea, spices and nuts.

In IKAPE's photos each tube is square, 30 × 30 mm across and 123 mm tall, with a black cap.

Choose the right size

  • 6 tubes: six doses, one a day for six days or two a day for three. IKAPE's photo shows two rows of three tubes on a stand of 230 × 110 mm, with one square hopper.
  • 12 tubes: twelve doses, two coffees a day for six days, or two different beans with six tubes each. IKAPE's photo shows one stand of 386 × 110 mm with two rows of six tubes and two square hoppers.

Choose the count that suits how often you want to refill. With the tubes in place, both stands are 139 mm tall in IKAPE's photos.

How to use it

  1. Put one empty tube on your scale and zero it.
  2. Fill each tube to your dose and close it with its cap.
  3. Stand the filled tubes in the stand.
  4. For each shot, tip one tube into the grinder.
  5. Refill all the tubes in one session.

Materials and care

IKAPE describes the product as thickened acrylic, food-grade and resistant to wear, made to last without damage. Wash the tubes by hand in lukewarm water and let them dry completely before you refill them, because damp beans do not keep. Acrylic does not take a dishwasher or very hot water well, so keep the tubes away from both.

What's in the box

  • 6 or 12 × square acrylic tubes with caps, depending on the version you select
  • 1 × stand, sized for that number of tubes
  • 1 or 2 × square hopper, as shown in IKAPE's photos of the six-tube and twelve-tube versions
