A cup that carries the dose to the portafilter
The IKAPE espresso dosing cup takes the grind at the grinder and turns over into the portafilter, so the whole dose goes from one to the other in the cup. IKAPE states that the cup is easy to use and clean and that no coffee is left inside it.
A wide, thick-walled mouth
The mouth is wide and the wall around it is thick. IKAPE states that this gives better coverage of the puck screen, prevents spills and keeps the bench tidy, and that the mouth fits most portafilters and grinders.
Choose the right size
- 51 / 54 mm: one cup for both diameters, for the De'Longhi Dedica and other compact 51 mm machines and for Sage / Breville machines with 54 mm baskets. IKAPE states that this version can be turned over directly into the portafilter to mix the grounds. In IKAPE's photos it is 80 mm high, with a 51 mm opening, a 65 mm rim and a 54 mm base.

How to use it
- Set the cup under the grinder chute and grind the whole dose into it.
- Weigh the cup on a scale if you dose by weight.
- Turn the cup over onto the portafilter and hold the two together.
- Lift the cup away, then distribute and tamp as usual.
- Tap the cup out and wipe it dry before the next shot.
Materials and care
IKAPE describes the cup as food-safe aluminium alloy that is lightweight, easy to clean and corrosion-resistant. Wipe it with a soft damp cloth and dry it before it goes back on the bench. Do not leave damp grounds standing in it, and keep abrasive powders away from the coloured finish.
