The IKAPE magnetic dosing funnel comes with a puck screen in the same basket size: 51, 53.3 or 58.5 mm. The aluminium alloy ring is 33 mm high, and 8 to 10 magnets hold it on the portafilter while you dose and stir. It comes in black, silver or white, embedded or non-embedded.

A magnetic funnel with its puck screen
The IKAPE magnetic dosing funnel is a 33 mm high aluminium alloy ring that holds on the portafilter with 8 to 10 magnets, sold together with a puck screen in the same basket size. You dose and stir the grounds with a WDT tool inside the ring, and IKAPE states that it keeps them from falling onto the bar.
What is in the set
- Magnetic dosing funnel: a ring that sits on the portafilter and keeps the grounds inside the basket while you dose and distribute. It latches on with 8 to 10 magnets and lifts straight off afterwards.
- Puck screen: supplied for the basket size you select, to lay on the tamped bed before you lock the portafilter in.
Embedded or non-embedded
IKAPE sells two mounts: embedded, where the ring drops into the basket, and non-embedded, where it rests on the rim. Black and silver come in both mounts; white is sold embedded only.

- De'Longhi machines with 51 mm portafilters, such as the Dedica EC680, EC155, ECP3120, ECP3420 and ECP3531.51 mm
- Sage / Breville machines with 54 mm baskets: Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch, Bambino Plus, Infuser and Duo-Temp Pro. IKAPE states that this ring does not fit into the grinding cradle of Sage / Breville machines; there it is for stirring the grounds only.53.3 mm
- standard 58 mm baskets on E61 group machines, Gaggia Classic, Classic Pro, Baby and Carezza, Rancilio Silvia, Lelit, ECM, Profitec, La Marzocco and Gevi, and the 58 mm portafilters of the Sage / Breville Dual Boiler, Oracle and Oracle Touch.58.5 mm
How to use it
- Set the funnel on the portafilter; the magnets pull it into place.
- Add the dose, then stir the grounds with a WDT tool inside the funnel.
- Lift the funnel off, level the bed and tamp.
- Lay the puck screen on the tamped coffee and start the shot.
Materials and care
The funnel is aluminium alloy, which IKAPE describes as food-grade, lightweight, durable and slow to rust, and it can be rinsed directly under running water. Dry it afterwards, and wipe the inside out from time to time, because ground coffee left in the funnel makes the next dose stick to the wall. Rinse the puck screen after each shot.
