A tamper that presses through its own funnel
This IKAPE set pairs a mini tamper with a dosing funnel for the Kapo K2 and Kapo K2 Pro portable espresso makers and for 58 mm home machines. The inside of the funnel matches the base of the tamper, so the funnel can stay on the basket while you press. IKAPE says this keeps grounds from scattering.
What is in the set
- Mini coffee tamper: a compact tamper with a single built-in spring. IKAPE states that the spring keeps the pressure vertical and consistent, which gives a smooth, evenly compressed puck. IKAPE describes it as more compact than handled or palm tampers, with a larger pressing area for easier pressing.
- Dosing funnel: a ring that sits on the basket while you grind and holds the dose inside it. Its inside diameter is matched to the base of the tamper, and it stays in place while you tamp.

How to use it
- Seat the funnel on the basket and grind the dose into it.
- Leave the funnel where it is and set the tamper on the grounds inside the ring.
- Press the tamper straight down onto the coffee.
- Lift the tamper out, then take the funnel off and wipe the rim before you lock the portafilter in.
Materials and care
IKAPE states that the set is made of food-grade aluminium alloy and stainless steel.
Wipe both pieces with a damp cloth after use and dry them. Do not put the tamper in a dishwasher or soak it, because the spring sits inside the body. Brush the funnel clean when coffee oils build up on the inner wall.
