IKAPE V5 Distributor Tamper, 9-Sided Base (51 to 58.35 mm)
The IKAPE V5 espresso distributor tamper levels and tamps with one tool: its one-piece, nine-sided base spreads the grounds when you turn it and presses them when you push down. A single bearing makes it easier to turn, and a balance ring keeps it from tilting. Sizes 51, 53.3 and 58.35 mm.

A distributor and a tamper in one
The IKAPE V5 espresso distributor tamper combines a distributor and a tamper in one tool. Its base is a single piece, so after you level the grounds by turning it, you can press straight down and the same base tamps the coffee. In IKAPE's sequence, you then turn it again to level the surface.
A single bearing and a balance ring
A built-in bearing helps the distributor turn, and IKAPE states that it takes less effort than a traditional leveler. A gravity balance ring stops the tool tilting sideways while it turns, which would otherwise leave the coffee surface uneven.
An openwork body with a nine-sided base
IKAPE describes the V5 as an openwork distributor tamper with a nine-sided base. Three- and four-sided bases have deeper steps, and IKAPE notes that coffee sticks under them when you turn them back the other way. IKAPE states that the nine-sided base leaves a clean, even surface whether you turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise.

- Sage / Breville machines with 54 mm baskets, including Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch and Bambino Plus.53.3 mm

How to use it
- Grind into a dry basket and settle the grounds with a light tap.
- Rest the tool on the basket and turn it to level the grounds.
- Press straight down to tamp the coffee, keeping the body upright.
- Turn it once more to level the surface, as IKAPE describes, then lift it straight off.
- Brush the base clean while the grounds are fresh.
Materials and care
IKAPE states that the base is food-grade 304 stainless steel and the shell aluminium alloy, with a wood top added for looks.
Wipe the base after use and dry it. Keep the wood top dry and out of the dishwasher, and do not soak the tool, because the bearing sits inside. Brush grounds out of the base while they are fresh.
