IKAPE Double-Bearing Espresso Distributor (51 to 58.35 mm)
The IKAPE double bearing coffee distributor levels ground coffee without pressing it. Two bearings let the base turn with less effort, and the balance ring works by magnetic repulsion. IKAPE states the nine-sided base levels evenly in either direction. Tamp separately afterwards. Sizes 51, 53.3 and 58.35 mm.

A distributor that levels without pressing
The IKAPE double bearing coffee distributor levels ground coffee before you tamp. Two bearings let the base turn under the body, and a magnetic balance ring rides on repulsion instead of resting on the coffee under its own weight. It levels only, so you tamp afterwards with a separate tamper.
Two bearings, so only the base turns
On a traditional or gravity distributor the whole tool rotates. This one is built as a single piece whose base turns on two bearings, and IKAPE states that this makes it easier to turn, with less effort.
A magnetic balance ring
The balance ring does not drop onto the coffee under its own weight, as a gravity ring does. IKAPE states that a built-in magnetic ring uses magnetic repulsion, so the ring seems to float and pushes back as you level. IKAPE's aim is a flat surface for the tamper, reached without pressing the coffee.
A nine-sided base
IKAPE notes that three- and four-sided bases have more pronounced steps, level less evenly and can trap coffee underneath when turned backwards. IKAPE states that this nine-sided base gives an even, flat surface whether you turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise, with no coffee stuck to it.
Choose the right size
- De'Longhi Dedica (EC685 / EC885) and other compact 51 mm machines.51 mm
- Sage / Breville machines with 54 mm baskets, including Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch and Bambino Plus.53.3 mm

How to use it
- Break up clumps with a WDT tool, then settle the grounds with a light tap.
- Rest the distributor on the basket and turn the base two or three times.
- Lift it straight off.
- Tamp the coffee with a separate tamper.
Materials and care
IKAPE states that the base is food-grade 304 stainless steel and the shell aluminium alloy, that the tool is easy to clean and that it can go in the dishwasher.
In daily use a brush and a wipe are enough. After a dishwasher cycle, take it out and dry it straight away so the bearings do not stand wet.
