IKAPE V2 Coffee Blind Shaker (51, 54 and 58 mm)
The IKAPE V2 blind shaker is a receiving cup with a magnetic base. You grind into it, set it on the portafilter, then lift the centre lever and turn it left and right so it knocks the inner wall and breaks up the clumps. It is made of aluminium alloy, in 51, 54 and 58 mm.

Catch the grind, then break it up before it reaches the basket
This IKAPE blind shaker catches the whole dose from the grinder and breaks up the clumps before the grounds reach the basket, where clumps can cause channelling. IKAPE states that the lever knocks the inner wall, so the clumps break apart and the grounds fall evenly into the portafilter basket.
What the lever does
Set the cup on the portafilter, lift the lever at the centre and rotate it left or right. IKAPE states that the movement raps the inner wall from inside and separates the clumps. IKAPE's photos show three parts: a flat lid, the centre lever and the cup body. The cup combines a dosing funnel and a dosing cup.
A magnetic base and a wide mouth
- Magnetic bottom: IKAPE's photos show small magnets set around the bottom rim, and IKAPE states the cup holds onto the portafilter firmly enough that the grounds stay in place even when it is shaken hard.
- Wide mouth: IKAPE gives the cup diameter as 80 mm and states that the wide mouth suits grinders of all kinds and catches the grounds without spilling them. Its dimension drawings show two versions, one 79 mm across the mouth and 72 mm tall, the other 72 mm across and 66 mm tall, without naming the basket size.
- Smooth, rounded inner wall: IKAPE states that it leaves no coffee behind in the cup.
- Weighing: IKAPE states the cup can also be used to weigh beans before grinding.

How to use it
- Place the cup under the grinder chute and grind the whole dose into it.
- Set the cup on the portafilter; the magnetic base holds it there.
- Lift the centre lever and turn it left and right a few times.
- Take the cup off and check the bed, then distribute and tamp.
- Tap the cup out and wipe it dry.
Materials and care
IKAPE states the cup is made entirely of aluminium alloy and is suitable for food preparation, and the retail box, which names it an "Espresso Dosing Cup", gives the same material.
Wipe it with a soft damp cloth and dry it. Do not leave damp grounds in the cup between shots, and keep abrasive cleaners off the finish. Keep the magnetic base clear of metal grit, which the magnet picks up.
