A distributor with no depth to set
The IKAPE gravity distributor all black has no depth adjustment. Its gravity block drops as you spin the tool and levels the ground coffee, so there is nothing to loosen, adjust or tighten: pick it up and use it. IKAPE sells it in 51, 53.3 and 58.35 mm.
Four levelling surfaces
The base has four levelling surfaces. IKAPE states they level the ground coffee, scrape it cleanly off the wall of the basket and leave a more even puck surface for the tamper.
Where it sits in the routine
The order is grind, distribute, tamp, extract. This tool works on the loose grounds only: it levels the mound the grinder leaves and does not compress the puck, so you still tamp afterwards.

- Sage / Breville machines with 54 mm baskets, including Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch and Bambino Plus.53.3 mm
- 58.35 mm: standard 58 mm baskets on E61 group machines, Gaggia Classic, Rancilio Silvia, Lelit, ECM, Profitec and La Marzocco.
How to use it
- Grind into a dry basket and settle the grounds with a light tap.
- Set the distributor on the basket and let the gravity block find its depth.
- Turn it two or three times in one direction, keeping it level on the rim.
- Lift it straight off and tamp, then brush the base clean.
Materials and care
IKAPE states the gravity block is food-grade 304 stainless steel, titanium-plated and smoked black, and the housing is aircraft aluminium, with no grade given. Wipe the tool after use and dry it. Do not soak it, keep abrasives off the plated surface, and brush grounds out of the levelling surfaces while they are fresh.
