A one-piece steel pitcher with a beak spout
This is IKAPE's V1 steaming pitcher, sold in 450 ml and as a milk frothing pitcher 600 ml, in beige or black. IKAPE states that the body is 304 stainless steel, bright and smooth, and made in one piece without mechanical weld marks. The spout has an eagle-beak shape.
The beak spout and the two curved slots
IKAPE describes an eagle-beak spout together with double curved infusion slots. It states that the design helps release the milk fully and makes a cappuccino or a latte easier to make.
A handle for more than one grip
IKAPE states that the handle and the smooth, rounded body suit several grips, the pencil grip and the horizontal grip among them, so the pitcher is comfortable to hold and takes less effort to use.
Choose the right size
- 450 ml (15 oz): the smaller of the two. A pitcher is usually filled well below its rated capacity, to around the base of the spout, so this size suits one drink at a time.
- 600 ml (20 oz): the same shape with more room, for a larger cup or for two drinks poured one after the other.
Both sizes come in beige and in black.
How to use it
- Pour cold milk in to about the base of the spout, no higher.
- Set the steam wand tip just under the surface and open the steam until the milk starts to turn.
- Sink the tip deeper once the milk is warm, and keep it turning until the foam is smooth.
- Knock the pitcher once on the bench, swirl it, then pour from the beak.
- Rinse it under hot water straight after the pour, before the milk dries.
Materials and care
IKAPE names 304 stainless steel for the body. Rinse the pitcher straight after steaming and wash it by hand with a soft cloth, because dried milk is much harder to remove than fresh. Keep abrasive powders and steel wool away from the outside finish, and dry the pitcher before it goes back on the bench.
