A puck screen 0.2 mm thick
The IKAPE V4 is an ultra thin puck screen: 0.2 mm of food-grade 304 stainless steel, about as thin as a sheet of paper. At that thickness it takes up very little headroom in the basket. It lies on the tamped coffee and comes out with the puck.
IKAPE describes precision micro-holes, fine and uniform, that let the water through at once and spread it across the whole puck.
What it protects
IKAPE states the screen keeps fine coffee grounds from flowing back, which protects the group head and the portafilter. It is reusable and made for repeated cleaning, and IKAPE offers it in place of disposable paper filters.

Both colours come in all three diameters, and in IKAPE's photos the diameter, the thickness and "SUS304" are etched on the rim.
How to use it
- Dose, distribute and tamp the bed level.
- Lay the screen flat on the coffee, centred in the basket, with the side IKAPE calls the big-aperture side facing up.
- Lock the portafilter in gently, so the screen stays centred.
- Knock the puck out with the screen on it and rinse the screen under hot water.
Materials and care
IKAPE states the screen is food-grade 304 stainless steel, rust-proof, corrosion-resistant and resistant to high temperatures. Rinse it after each shot and dry it. At 0.2 mm it bends easily: if it lifts at the edge, press it flat by hand on a level surface, and do not use a tool to straighten it.
